Twixtmas Bonus: Actual Video Footage of Me Talking Trains With James O'Malley

On the fourth day of Christmas, my Substack gave to me / Jonn Elledge's massive face

Now the turkey’s done and we’re all just chilling out and trying to find something to do that isn’t talk to our families, here’s some bonus content. On the last Friday in November I spent an hour chatting to the excellent James O’Malley, of Odds & Ends of History among other things, about all things rail-related because we are very cool. We attracted an audience of several dozen, which may not sound a lot but come on, we're just a couple of nerds and it was Friday night.

Substack, it turns out, sends you a video when you do this sort of a livestream, so now we’re in that odd gap before new year I figured I’d share it with you guys. We talk about topics including the interchange from Louise Haigh to Heidi Alexander, the renaming of the Overground lines, why there are so few bus nerds – and also how Henry Scampi thinks zebra crossings are compulsory.

I hope you enjoy it – or if not, at least that it doesn’t somehow autoplay against your will and thus make everything worse.
