I’ve read a similar but somewhat contradictory thing about paranoia/personality and evolution
Apparently cockroaches have ‘personalities’ some are braver than others, some more cowardly, they did studies and in groups a certain percentage scurry for cover the moment they see light while others take the risk to stay out
This means for the species if the light does represent danger the cowards keep the species alive but if it doesn’t represent danger the brave ones are able to find new food, new mates and new opportunities
Apparently at a species level you need both courageous individuals and cowards and each of them play their evolutionary part
One name for this is x-risk, but, weirdly, the people who talk about x-risk seem to be much less worried about climate change and much more worried about AI.
